The project “Education to Prevent” will be done through a join agreement or contract with the Departments of the Education and Health of the City Hall or State which allows students from 5th to 8th grade to make a research during their IT classes trying to identify kidney diseases in their families. The student will fill in an online form created by Pro-Kidney Foundation IT experts. The form will be also distributed in the classrooms to be filled by the student’s family at home.
The Pro-Kidney Foundation’s team will supervise the student’s research. The team will be composed by a nephrology doctor, a psychologist expert in hospital psychology, a nutritionist and a social worker.
The School’s directors and teachers will be instructed and will be responsible for including this activity in their lesson plan. There will be a schedule between the Schools and the Pro-Kidney Foundation to deliver and to collect the forms.
The Pro-Kidney Foundation will make sure the forms, as well as its contents, are kept confidential. The statistics data will be disclosed but the person identity will not be disclosed. The statistical data and evaluations will be published at schools through the directors and the teachers. The community will be informed by the press. The students will receive enough number of printed forms to interview the members of their families (from 10 years old on). The form can be accessed at Pro-Kidney Foundation site: www.prorim.com.br, from the student’s home or school.
The Pro-Kidney Foundation will provide Seminars about kidney illness at the schools in order to launch the Project in partnership with the City Hall and Education and Health Secretaries of each participating city.
It is desirable that parents have access to the seminars to understand the importance of the children's work in the community.
If you have any doubts on how to fill in the form please call 0800 47.47.00 (The Pro-Kidney Foundation call center), send an e-mail to prorim@prorim.com.br or check instructions at the site www.prorim.com.br
The Pro-Kidney Foundation believes that through the education of our population we will minimize the social-economical impact created from the increased number of renal illness (especially of patients in dialysis).
This project aims to help to educate the students and their families to recognize renal diseases in its early stages. By recognizing other diseases that cause renal failure as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure the renal illness will be minimized and the costs for the government will be reduced. Furthermore, we will have detailed epidemiologic data from the research that the students will make at home.
The City Halls of the state of Santa Catarina are partners in this project which will be done through 5th to 8th grade students of municipal schools. The students will be guided by the Pro-Kidney Foundation experts to execute a scientific research.
